The annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage for 2026 has commenced its registration process. Scheduled to span 57 days from July 3 to August 28, the journey to the sacred cave shrine of Lord Shiva in Jammu and Kashmir is set to welcome a multitude of devotees.
New regulations are in place for the 2026 Yatra, emphasizing enhanced health and safety. A compulsory health certificate, issued on or after April 8, 2026, is mandatory for all applicants aged between 13 and 70 years. Pregnant women beyond six weeks are not permitted.
Devotees can choose between the traditional 48 km Pahalgam route or the shorter, steeper 14 km Baltal route. Registration can be completed online via the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) website or mobile app, or offline at over 550 authorized bank branches.
This year, all registered pilgrims will be issued RFID cards for real-time movement tracking. Improvements on the Baltal route include better lighting and trekking tracks. A pre-paid booking system for services like ponies and palkis is also introduced, alongside expanded accommodation options.
