Syro-Malankara Church Mourns Loss of Bishop

Abraham Mar Julios, the former head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church's Muvattupuzha diocese, passed away on Saturday morning. He was 81 years old and died at Pushpagiri Medical College in Thiruvalla. He had been residing in Pallimala, Thiruvalla, in a retired capacity since stepping down from his leadership role.
The funeral proceedings commenced on Saturday with a procession from the Pushpagiri chapel to St John's Metropolitan Cathedral in Thiruvalla. Public viewing was held, followed by the first and second stages of the burial rites. These rituals are extensive, with the remaining stages scheduled to conclude on Monday.
The final phase of the funeral rites will take place on Monday. The seventh stage is set for 7 a.m., with the concluding service to follow at 9 a.m. at the St John's Metropolitan Cathedral. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the head of the Church, will preside over these services, joined by other metropolitans of the Church.
