- Rescued puppy now thrives with a loving family in new home.

A vulnerable puppy, discovered abandoned in freezing conditions near Vittoria Street in Smethwick, West Midlands, has now found a permanent, loving home. The Staffordshire bull terrier cross, named Nellie, was found amidst fly-tipped rubbish in November 2024. She received immediate medical attention from the RSPCA.
Nellie was found suffering from a lump on her stomach and blood in her urine, conditions suspected to be the reason for her abandonment. After a period of recovery and care, she has been successfully rehomed with a family in Worcestershire who were seeking a new pet. The family describes Nellie as loving, outgoing, and good with children and other household pets.
The RSPCA has highlighted a significant increase in animal abandonment cases, citing the cost-of-living crisis as a major contributing factor. This trend has reached a five-year high, prompting the charity to appeal for public support through campaigns like 'Big Give Back To Animals' to aid in rescuing more animals.
