Tiny Kittens Found Abandoned Need 24/7 Care
12 Sep
Summary
- Five kittens, four with tail deformities, are receiving constant care.
- Kittens were found abandoned and too young to be without their mother.
- Shelter urges neutering to combat the ongoing kitten crisis.
Five vulnerable kittens, found abandoned, are currently receiving intensive 24/7 care at The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home. Four of the five, named Patricia, Patrick, Pamela, Pauline, and Petunia, were discovered to have birth abnormalities affecting their tails, with two born without tails and two having deformed ones.
Initially believed to be five weeks old upon arrival, shelter staff noted they were "far too young" to be separated from their mother and exhibited fear due to lack of human interaction. They are now progressing well, gaining strength, weight, and confidence, while also learning litter training and to trust people.
This rescue effort underscores a broader "kitten crisis." The shelter is appealing for donations to cover the significant costs of veterinary care, vaccinations, food, and medication. They emphasize the importance of neutering pets to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the strain on rescue facilities, noting that 1.5 million cats in the UK remain unneutered.
