- The fundraiser is in memory of his wife of 72 years.
- He began the challenge following a stroke earlier this year.

A 92-year-old man, Ken Johnson, has initiated a 40-mile static cycling challenge to fundraise for St Richard's Hospice. This personal mission honors his wife, Kate, who received care at the hospice before her passing in April of last year. The couple shared a 72-year marriage, having met in 1951 while serving in the Royal Air Force in Germany.
Johnson's son stated that the challenge, which began on Monday, will provide his father with a sense of purpose and serve as a thank you for the compassionate care his mother received. Ken started using a sit-down cycle exerciser as part of his rehabilitation after suffering a stroke in January. By Friday, he had successfully completed 10 miles of his 40-mile goal.
