Their journey, which began six weeks ago in Essex, England, concluded in Blackwatertown, Northern Ireland. The pair walked for nearly 40 days, carrying only backpacks and tents, traversing public footpaths and rights of way.
Their motivations stemmed from ill young relatives, driving them to undertake the physically demanding challenge. They faced considerable adversity, including England's recent heatwave, which caused temperatures around 35 degrees Celsius and led to Gribbin requiring a 24-hour hospital stay for dehydration. Scotland presented its own trials with extreme wet weather.
Donnelly, who previously walked over 2,500 km from Austria to Armagh in 2017, noted the relief and achievement of finishing. Gribbin acknowledged the exhaustion caused by the heat but highlighted their adaptation and eventual completion ahead of schedule. Upon their return to County Armagh, they were met with an overwhelming welcome from family, friends, and locals in Blackwatertown, celebrating their unforgettable experience.
