Hilary Fleming of Wroughton has completed a five-year fundraising challenge, wearing a different hat every day to support the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance. Her colourful efforts have generated £5,000 for the charity that twice saved her husband's life. Fleming has donned 1,825 distinct hats, viewing her daily "hatsercise" as a way to give back.
Inspired by the air ambulance's prompt response in 2013 and 2014 after her husband's fall, Fleming aims to raise both funds and awareness. Her unique approach often sparks conversations, allowing her to connect with others who have benefited from the service and share personal stories.
Marking five years on January 8, Fleming hopes to visit the airbase. The air ambulance responded to a record 1,343 incidents last year. This initiative underscores the significant contributions of volunteers and the essential services offered by emergency medical transport.
