Summary
- Korbin Gonzales, 4, consistently patient and polite on long school bus commute
- Bus driver Tamica Dyson rewards Korbin's good behavior with a thoughtful goodie bag
- Korbin's mother Alexandria Gonzales proud of her son's positive conduct
Last month, in September 2025, 4-year-old Korbin Gonzales began his first year of kindergarten, which also marked his first time riding the school bus. Despite the nearly hour-long commute home, where he is the last to be dropped off, Korbin has consistently remained patient and polite.
Korbin's good behavior did not go unnoticed by his bus driver, Tamica Dyson, who has 14 years of experience as a driver and nine years as a school monitor. Dyson decided to reward Korbin's exemplary conduct with a special surprise. As Korbin stepped off the bus, Dyson excitedly handed him a red goodie bag filled with "thoughtful and sweet" items, including sunglasses, a squishy toy, a toy school bus, stickers, and a chocolate chip muffin.
Korbin's mother, Alexandria Gonzales, says she and her husband "were not surprised" by their son's behavior, but they were still very proud and "thankful that Tamica took her time" to recognize Korbin's positive actions. Gonzales believes this gesture has made Korbin feel "confident and special," and he has been eagerly sharing the story with others.
Dyson, a mother herself, explains that while she has given gifts to her young passengers before, this was the first time she had done so specifically for good behavior, rather than for holidays or birthdays. She believes it is just as important to reward positive actions as it is to correct negative ones.
Since his interaction with Dyson, Korbin has not stopped telling others about the goodie bag he received, and his mother says she can tell he is "proud of himself." This thoughtful gesture is likely to have a lasting impact on the young student, motivating him to continue his exemplary conduct.
