Dorothy May Maude, affectionately known as Dolly, recently celebrated her 105th birthday in her Halifax home, West Yorkshire. Born in 1921, she has witnessed significant historical events, including World War Two, during which she worked in a textile mill before joining the Army Auxiliary Territorial Service as a driver. She met her husband, Leonard, at a rollerskating rink, and they had three children. Dolly, who has been a widow since the 1970s, continues to live independently with the support of her daughters and carers. Her secret to a long life, she shares, is consistent hard work and the use of Oil of Olay. She reminisces about a time when life was more challenging, with limited transport requiring extensive walking. Dolly has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and received a special card from the King and Queen for her milestone birthday. Her daughters, Susan Lynch and Christine Leek, live nearby and organized a party to celebrate their mother's remarkable longevity.
