102-Year-Old Pilot Celebrates Birthday with Hooters Hot Wings

Glenn Ward, a 102-year-old retired U.S. Navy pilot, has maintained a unique birthday tradition for approximately 15 years: celebrating at Hooters. Ward, who flew 102 combat missions during the Korean War, has a particular fondness for the restaurant's hot wings, especially the 3 Mile Island sauce.

Ward's love for bold flavors contrasts with his childhood on a farm in Ohio, where his family ate seasonally from their produce and hundreds of chickens. During his Navy career, he experienced diverse culinary options, even humorously remarking that the food was so good he decided to stay.

Now a resident of Arlington, Virginia, Ward’s Hooters birthday celebrations are significant events, often drawing about 70 guests, with the restaurant regularly accommodating the large group. He attributes his longevity to a balanced diet, which includes protein shakes and meals with meat, vegetables, and carbohydrates, alongside fond memories of his wholesome childhood diet.

Ward remains optimistic about his health, joking he might reach 115. His continued enjoyment of spicy hot wings demonstrates a zest for life and a lasting appreciation for flavorful food.
