A garden designed to highlight the mental health pressures on young people is set to debut at the Chelsea Flower Show. Gardener Charlie Chase collaborated with Young Minds to create a space that reflects the anxieties and overwhelming challenges faced by today's youth.
The garden's design incorporates elements that symbolize the immense pressures, such as stones representing feelings of being crushed. These pressures encompass a wide range of issues, including excessive screen time, the cost of living crisis, and eco-anxiety, all of which contribute to a significant mental health burden.
Following its showcase at the prestigious event, the garden will be relocated to Newham, east London. There, it will be transformed into a community space accessible to everyone, offering a sanctuary and a place for connection. Chase Gardens also plans to host horticultural sessions there, aiming to broaden access to the benefits of gardening.
