A young girl from Sheffield, now nine years old, has received a prestigious Young Hero award for her extraordinary courage and fundraising efforts following a rare blood cancer diagnosis. She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) just days before her sixth birthday in August 2022.
Heidi, who is now in remission, has inspired her family and friends to raise thousands of pounds for Sheffield Children's Hospital. Her advocacy has also encouraged more people to join the stem cell register.
The award, presented at the Lord Mayor Awards in Sheffield on Thursday, recognized Heidi for her exceptional fundraising, advocacy, and resilience through illness. Her mother expressed immense pride in Heidi's determination to help others.
