A nine-year-old girl, Anjali, has become a beacon of hope after her family decided to donate her organs following her brain death at AIIMS Jodhpur. The Class 4 student sustained critical head injuries on August 19 in a road accident. Despite medical efforts, she was declared brain dead on August 27.
Following extensive counselling by the medical team, Anjali's family consented to organ donation. Her two kidneys and liver were retrieved. One kidney and the liver were transported to SMS Hospital in Jaipur via a green corridor on Saturday morning, while the other kidney will be transplanted at AIIMS Jodhpur. AIIMS Jodhpur has facilitated 12 cadaveric organ donations since launching its program in March 2024, with Anjali being its third pediatric donor.
