A Maryland woman diagnosed with breast cancer at 22 is now celebrating Cancer Survivors' Month, hoping to inspire others. Shelby Bennoit discovered a lump and was diagnosed with Infiltrating Duct Carcinoma Stage 2b Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a rare form in young women. She underwent an aggressive treatment plan developed by doctors at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital.
Bennoit's treatment included 16 rounds of chemotherapy followed by a bilateral mastectomy. She shared that receiving the news of being cancer-free in February 2025, after being diagnosed in August 2024, was an incredibly joyful experience. Now 24 and cancer-free for over a year, she is dedicated to giving back and encouraging other young women to discuss their risk factors with healthcare providers.
