A study conducted by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ahead of International Day of Yoga 2026 demonstrated the profound impact of a structured yoga program. The "Effect of Protocoled Yoga on Health and Quality of Life" study involved 2,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Over a fortnight, participants practiced the Common Yoga Protocol, encompassing exercises, asanas, pranayama, and meditation. Assessments before and after the program revealed substantial health benefits, including improved cardiovascular condition, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
Beyond physical health, the study highlighted remarkable improvements in quality of life. 88% of participants reported an enhanced overall quality of life. Specific benefits included better sleep for 86%, improved digestion for 84%, and enhanced concentration for 87%. Additionally, 89% noted a positive change in mood and mental well-being, with the same percentage experiencing greater body flexibility.
Furthermore, 82% of participants experienced improved relationships and interactions with family and friends. The program's success was underscored by the fact that 90% of participants expressed a willingness to continue practicing yoga, with 53% definitively stating their intent to do so.
