The Xizang Maternity and Children's Hospital is now the first facility in the Xizang autonomous region to offer the Ai You Children's Medical Assistance Program. Previously, families often faced immense financial strain, travel difficulties, and communication barriers seeking specialized care outside Xizang. The program now provides targeted medical and financial support for children under 18 diagnosed with conditions such as congenital heart disease, irregular heartbeats, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Financial assistance is available based on out-of-pocket expenses post-insurance. Subsidies can reach 30,000 yuan for premature infants and 20,000 yuan for other serious conditions. The application process has been simplified, with hospital pediatricians guiding guardians and the Ai You Foundation managing online submissions for prompt fund disbursement.
