3 Jul
Summary
- Woman experienced earaches and headaches for unexplained reasons.
- An earwax camera revealed black strands near her eardrum.
- The strands were identified as a stray eyelash, not a spider.

In July 2025, Megan Lindley, from South Yorkshire, England, experienced unexplained earaches and headaches. Initially fearing an insect had entered her ear canal, Lindley used a recently purchased earwax camera for investigation.
What she discovered was a series of black strands lodged near her eardrum. Lindley's initial fear was a spider, but closer inspection revealed the source of her discomfort to be a stray eyelash.
She theorizes that a cluster lash may have detached while she was sleeping and fallen into her ear. Removing the eyelash, which was stuck near her eardrum, proved to be a challenging 10-minute process.
Following the removal, Lindley experienced residual headaches but has since recovered. She is now sharing her experience to raise awareness about such incidents.
