Dr. Vidya, who is also a senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham, has been recognized for her exceptional leadership, clinical expertise, and longstanding commitment to advancing the field of breast surgery. As the honorary secretary, she will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the ABS, contributing to its mission of promoting excellence in breast surgery across the UK.
Described as a pioneer in her field, Dr. Vidya has introduced innovative techniques such as muscle-sparing implant-based breast reconstruction, which offer improved recovery for patients. She has also published over 150 peer-reviewed papers, two books on breast reconstruction, and an ebook in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) and ABS. Additionally, she leads the RCS international surgical training program in breast surgery.
