Care Home Fails Safety Test Again
21 Oct
Summary
- Wolverhampton care home rated inadequate for safety and effectiveness.
- Inspectors found repeated falls and inadequate skin care for residents.
- Home remains in special measures due to ongoing regulatory breaches.
Ashley Court Care Ltd in Wolverhampton has been rated "inadequate" for the second time by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), failing to meet standards for safe and effective care. The home, which supports older adults and younger people, including those with dementia, remains in special measures. Inspectors identified breaches in six key regulations, including safe care and treatment, staffing, and person-centred support. Specific concerns highlighted included instances of residents experiencing repeated falls without adequate staff alerts and insufficient repositioning to prevent skin issues. Issues were also noted with medicine management, care records, and a heavy reliance on agency staff. The CQC previously downgraded the home in March, and despite some staff improvements noted by inspectors, leaders have not fully addressed previous concerns. The CQC is proposing regulatory action, which the provider can appeal. Ashley Court Care Ltd stated they are disappointed with the rating and are committed to improving care, highlighting recent changes in management structure and environmental improvements.
