Neck Pain After Wine Reveals Rare Blood Cancer
28 Jan
Summary
- Neck pain after drinking wine was a rare symptom leading to cancer diagnosis.
- The diagnosis was Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma, affecting lymph nodes.
- Chemotherapy began in November as the mother fights for her children.

A 28-year-old mother of two experienced a rare indicator of serious illness: significant neck pain after consuming wine. This symptom, alongside extreme fatigue and itchy skin, was initially attributed to hormonal shifts post-childbirth. However, the discovery of a hard, immobile lump on her neck in July 2025 prompted medical attention.
Her condition was diagnosed as Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer affecting multiple lymph nodes. While pain after drinking alcohol is a recognized, though infrequent, symptom of this lymphoma, it is more commonly linked to the acidity in wine. This rare manifestation led to her chemotherapy treatment commencing in November.
