24/7 Crisis Centre Sees 25% Overnight Surge

The Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Mental Health and Addictions Urgent Crisis Centre (MHAUCC) in Windsor has marked one year of providing continuous, 24/7 care. Since expanding its hours last July, the center has recorded 4,222 visits. Significantly, more than 25 percent of these visits occurred between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., a period when the center was previously closed.
This expansion has underscored the critical need for overnight support for mental health and addiction crises, which do not adhere to a schedule. The MHAUCC has become an essential partner for law enforcement and emergency medical services. Between July 2025 and May 2026, the center received 219 referrals directly from police and paramedics, and an additional 720 from emergency departments, enabling officers and paramedics to return to their duties more quickly and remain available for other calls.
