The contagious virus, often referred to as the "stomach flu," can cause significant inflammation of the stomach. Its symptoms typically appear within 12 to 48 hours of exposure and include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, headache, and body aches.
Health authorities emphasize preventative measures to curb the spread of norovirus. These include consistent hand washing, thorough cooking of shellfish, and cleaning and disinfecting contaminated surfaces. Individuals experiencing symptoms are advised to stay home for at least two days after their symptoms subside.
