Whole Foods Recalls More Products Amid Salmonella Outbreak

Whole Foods is expanding its product recall following a salmonella outbreak linked to jalapenos. This latest action, announced on August 12, follows an initial recall by distributor Taylor Farms on August 9. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that as of August 10, more than 340 people in 27 states have fallen ill, resulting in 36 hospitalizations. The outbreak is associated with jalapenos sourced from Mexico.

Restaurants like Chipotle and Qdoba previously removed the affected ingredient nationwide. While no illnesses have been reported from the specific Whole Foods products, the company is ensuring customer safety by removing all recalled items from shelves and offering full refunds. Customers who purchased these products are advised to discard them and contact Whole Foods for reimbursement.

The recalled items were available online and in Whole Foods stores across 12 states, including Arkansas, Illinois, and Texas. Separately, Taylor Farms products with jalapenos were recalled from various retailers in 26 states.
