Cancer Care Boost for State Employees
16 Oct
Summary
- New rates set for specialized surgical oncology at empanelled private facilities.
- Scheme beneficiaries can now access five more AIIMS facilities without prior permission.
- Rates aim to cover advanced cancer procedures inadequately addressed previously.
The state government has implemented new rates for specialized surgical oncology procedures at private healthcare organizations empanelled under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS). This initiative aims to broaden access to advanced cancer treatments for state government employees, pensioners, and their families.
Eligible beneficiaries can now also seek treatment at five more All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), including facilities in Patna, Guwahati, Kalyani, Bhubaneswar, and Deoghar, without needing prior permission. AIIMS, New Delhi, was already included in the scheme.
The newly approved rates are designed to address existing gaps within the WBHS, which previously did not adequately cover many advanced surgical oncology procedures. These rates will exclusively apply to empanelled facilities possessing valid NABH accreditation for surgical oncology.
