- She experienced a catastrophic seizure and required CPR twice.
- She later had her gallbladder removed due to excruciating pain.

A 44-year-old mother is warning others about the dangers of weight loss injections after a terrifying ordeal that saw her nearly die twice. Tammy Downing initially found success with Mounjaro, losing four stone, but switched to the more affordable Wegovy in October 2025 when prices surged. Just two weeks into her Wegovy treatment, while consuming a couple of alcoholic drinks, she suffered a catastrophic seizure and required CPR twice, both at home and upon arrival at the hospital.
Medics suggested her near-fatal experience was likely due to mixing the GLP-1 drug with alcohol. Despite this, Tammy resumed Mounjaro, but soon experienced "excruciating" stomach pains, leading to the emergency removal of her gallbladder over Christmas 2025. Now completely off the jabs, she states she would "rather be overweight" than risk using them again, urging others to stay away from these treatments.
Manufacturers Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly emphasize patient safety, noting that side effects can occur and advising use under strict medical supervision. They highlight that while alcohol is not strictly prohibited with Wegovy, moderation is recommended to avoid worsening side effects, and Mounjaro's patient information leaflet warns of potential stomach pain and gallbladder issues as side effects.
