VTX3232 Fights Obesity Inflammation Beyond Weight Loss
7 Apr
Summary
- VTX3232 effectively reduced systemic and liver inflammation.
- The drug showed a rapid and sustained reduction in hsCRP.
- No significant impact on body weight was observed in trials.

Results from the Phase IIa (NCT06771115) trial for Ventyx Biosciences' VTX3232 were presented on March 30, 2026. The study evaluated VTX3232, a daily oral therapy targeting NLRP3, alone or with semaglutide in obese patients.
The 12-week, multi-center study met its primary safety and tolerability endpoints, with no drug-related severe adverse events reported. Secondary endpoints were also achieved, showing VTX3232 rapidly and sustainably reduced high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP).
Further analysis revealed reductions in interleukin-6 (IL-6), fibrinogen, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). VTX3232 also decreased liver inflammation independently of weight loss effects. However, the drug did not produce significant changes in body weight.
While not a standalone obesity treatment, VTX3232 effectively targets persistent inflammation in obesity, complementing existing weight-loss therapies. Key opinion leaders highlight the need for improved tolerability in obesity medications.
