Boost Lung Health: Carrots, Fish, Eggs Aid Asthma

Summary
- Vitamins A and D may improve lung function in asthma patients.
- Higher vitamin A linked to better lung function in children.
- Vitamin D associated with slower biological aging in adults.

Vitamins found in everyday foods like carrots, oily fish, and eggs may offer a novel approach to managing asthma, according to a recent study. Researchers have indicated that higher levels of vitamin A and vitamin D in the body are linked to enhanced lung function in children and adults diagnosed with asthma. Specifically, children and adults with asthma who had elevated vitamin A levels demonstrated better lung function compared to those with lower levels.
Further findings from the study, which involved participants from Costa Rica and other locations, revealed that adults with asthma and sufficient vitamin D levels (at least 30 ng/ml) also exhibited improved lung function. This group also showed fewer signs of epigenetic aging, suggesting vitamin D might play a role in slowing the biological aging process, particularly for those with asthma. The research underscores the potential of these vitamins in respiratory health, though further studies are recommended to confirm causality.
