Visakhapatnam Gears Up for Pulse Polio Drive Sunday

The Visakhapatnam district is preparing for a significant Pulse Polio Immunisation drive this coming Sunday, aiming to administer oral polio vaccine to 1,89,712 children under the age of five. To facilitate this extensive campaign, the district administration has established a robust network of 1,062 Pulse Polio booths. Complementing these are 62 transit booths and 94 mobile units designed to reach children in various locations.

Collector M. Abhishikt Kishore has emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination to guarantee that no child below five years misses out on the vaccination. He stressed the need for adequate vaccine stocks, sufficient staff, and essential facilities at all designated booths. Special attention is being given to children in transit, with booths strategically placed at bus stations, railway stations, and other high-traffic public areas.

Furthermore, a comprehensive follow-up plan is in place. On June 29 and 30, officials will conduct house-to-house visits to identify and vaccinate any children who may have missed their doses on Sunday, ensuring complete coverage of the target population.
