Summary
- Marine Corps veteran treks over 100 miles to support a young girl with cancer.
- The veteran has previously completed thousands of miles for childhood cancer awareness.
- A fundraiser will be held Sunday to support the girl battling neuroblastoma.

Jim Hickey, a Marine Corps veteran and three-time cancer survivor, is undertaking a 100-mile walk from eastern Long Island to Staten Island. This trek is in support of 7-year-old Lucy Dina, who has been battling stage four high-risk neuroblastoma cancer since she was an infant. Hickey, who has previously walked thousands of miles across the country to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research, was inspired to help Lucy after hearing her story on Facebook.
Lucy's mother, Laurie Del Percio, shared the immense difficulty of watching her daughter endure treatment. Despite the challenges, Lucy is described as a trooper, handling her medical care with strength. Hickey aims to complete his walk on Saturday at the Curly Wolf Saloon on Staten Island. Following his arrival, a fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday to further support Lucy's fight. The family's GoFundMe page has already garnered over $30,000 in donations.
