The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced a significant funding opportunity, making available $112 million through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. This initiative is designed to expand crucial community-based suicide prevention services for veterans, service members, and their families. The grants will be distributed by June 12, 2026, supporting nonprofit groups, local governments, and tribal organizations nationwide.
The program prioritizes connecting veterans, especially those not currently engaged with VA services, to mental health care and crisis support. This focus is critical as approximately 60 percent of veterans who die by suicide were not receiving VA care in the two years prior to their death. The VA awarded over $210 million through this program since its launch in 2022, reaching thousands of veterans.
