In Varanasi, the Namo Shakti Rath initiative has been launched to bolster women's healthcare by providing free, door-to-door breast cancer screening. This program, inspired by the Prime Minister's Healthy Woman-Empowered Family campaign, focuses on early detection and timely treatment for breast cancer. Specially equipped mobile vans will deliver these services directly to women's residences, addressing barriers like distance and time constraints.
The initiative leverages Thermalytics, an AI-powered thermal imaging technology, which offers a safe, non-invasive, and radiation-free screening method. This advanced approach is ideal for large-scale community health efforts. The program is initially targeting 290 gram panchayats and various wards within the Varanasi Municipal Corporation and Gangapur, with an ambitious goal of covering around 7.5 lakh women over 18 years old.
Community health workers and local officials are integral to the program's success, facilitating mobilization and awareness. The Namo Shakti Rath initiative is poised to become a model for women-centric preventive healthcare, potentially extending its impact beyond Varanasi to benefit women across the state and the nation through improved early cancer detection and access to quality treatment.
