A new physician-led Valley Fever Care Program has been established in the Central Valley to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of this fungal infection. The program, set to begin August 1, will offer local patients advanced care closer to home.
The program will provide comprehensive services, including symptom evaluation, specialist consultations, and treatment recommendations. Patients with persistent symptoms or a higher risk of complications will receive ongoing monitoring. Coordinated care with primary care providers and other specialists will also be facilitated.
Furthermore, the Valley Fever Care Program will keep patients informed about emerging research, medications, and diagnostics. Eligible individuals with advanced disease unresponsive to standard treatments may be enrolled in clinical studies, offering access to cutting-edge therapies. This initiative aims to reduce the need for patients to travel outside the Central Valley for specialized care.
