Vadodara marked International Yoga Day with a diverse range of programs on Sunday. Celebrations were held across university campuses, temples, public gardens, community spaces, and heritage sites, attracting participants of all ages. A highlight included the city's 10th edition of the 108 Spiral Surya Namaskar, which saw over 400 individuals complete the intensive 108-minute session at Shiv Mahal Palace.
This year's International Yoga Day theme, 'Healthy Ageing,' underscored the importance of maintaining well-being through yoga while also promoting the preservation of heritage structures. Organizers actively encouraged citizens to connect with these historical sites through the practice of yoga.
Large-scale yoga events took place at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple and the historical Hazira monument, organized in collaboration with heritage and arts organizations. Educational institutions, resident groups, and community organizations contributed with yoga demonstrations, meditation, and wellness activities. Notably, Maharaja Sayajirao University's Faculty of Performing Arts combined yoga with music, featuring Omkar Sadhana, breathing exercises, and classical raga presentations in a unique Naad Yoga celebration that coincided with World Music Day.
