18 Dec
Summary
- A mother of two died days after cosmetic surgery in Turkey.
- Inquest heard she was deemed unfit for the procedure.
- Complications led to multi-organ failure and cardiac arrest.

A UK inquest has revealed that a mother of two, Sophie Hunt, was not fit for cosmetic surgery after she died days following procedures in Turkey. The 34-year-old underwent a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt-lift at a private hospital in Turkey on March 7, 2022. Shortly after the operations, she experienced multi-organ failure and cardiac arrest three times.
Evidence presented at the inquest suggested potential issues with Ms. Hunt's health prior to the surgery, including abnormal ECG readings. Her mother stated her belief that Sophie was not fit for the procedures, raising concerns about possible complications from the Brazilian butt-lift. Despite the procedures occurring abroad, the coroner reached a narrative conclusion.
Ultimately, Sophie Hunt died due to complications arising from the surgical procedures undertaken in Turkey. A post-mortem examination conducted in the UK also concluded that the death was a result of these surgical complications. The Turkish Council of Forensic Medicine's report identified the abdominoplasty and liposuction as the cause of death, following sudden loss of consciousness and subsequent resuscitation efforts.
