Glasgow Emerges as Fat Jab Capital Amidst UK Trend
6 Apr
Summary
- Glasgow sees one in three adults using weight-loss injections.
- On average, jab users lost 10kg, outperforming traditional dieting.
- Many jab users reported eating less healthy, lacking protein and fruit.

Glasgow has become the UK's leading city for weight-loss injections, with an estimated one in three adults seeking to shed pounds utilizing these treatments. Similar trends are observed in London and Leeds, where 29 percent of dieters are reportedly using Mounjaro or Ozempic.
On average, individuals using these injections achieved a 10kg weight loss, surpassing the 6kg average seen with traditional dieting methods. Despite the success in weight reduction, a significant portion of users, three-quarters, admitted to adopting less healthy eating habits.
Concerns include an increase in fatty food consumption and a decrease in fruit and vegetable intake for one in five users. Nearly two-thirds reported reduced protein intake, with 20 percent unsure about their daily protein requirements.
This shift impacts meal preparation, as 44 percent cited reduced appetite from the jabs as a reason for diminished motivation to cook balanced meals. The average daily calorie intake for those on injections was 1,123, compared to 1,389 for non-users, though most agreed lower calories don't equate to healthier eating.
Experts emphasize that while injections can aid in calorie deficit, they are not a replacement for healthy lifestyle choices. Sustainable weight loss requires a holistic approach, integrating balanced nutrition and regular physical activity alongside medical support.
