An extensive review of 116 bipolar disorder treatments has culminated in the launch of EBI-BD, an open-access web platform. This resource offers clear insights into the impact, side effects, and evidence quality for each therapy, drawing from 77 meta-analyses.

The platform details effective treatments for different phases of bipolar disorder. For adults with bipolar depression, cariprazine, fluoxetine, and lurasidone are recommended. Children and teenagers may benefit from lurasidone with fluoxetine or olanzapine.

During manic episodes, adults may find aripiprazole, haloperidol, lithium, or risperidone effective. For younger individuals, aripiprazole, asenapine, and olanzapine are noted as beneficial interventions.

For long-term management and prevention of future episodes, aripiprazole, lithium, and risperidone are effective maintenance doses for adults. The EBI-BD platform facilitates shared decision-making, empowering clinicians and patients to jointly select the most suitable treatment based on individual needs and preferences.
