During the week of September 7 to 13, designated medical institutions reported an average of 9.53 cases, a mark that matches the record set in the previous year.
The rapid spread of infections is particularly concerning as children aged 9 and under account for over 50% of all reported cases. Elementary school students are seeing a significant rise in infections. Machida recorded the highest number of cases, followed by Arakawa, Kita, and Koto wards.
With holiday travel and increased social interaction anticipated, public health officials are strongly advising residents to implement preventive measures. These include diligent handwashing and disinfection, along with the consistent use of masks, especially in crowded public spaces, to help curb the ongoing spread of the virus.
