The Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre at Government Medical College Hospital, Tiruppur, is nearing its commissioning after two years of development. Initiated through the Namakku Naame Scheme by Rotary and Public Welfare Trust, the 100-bedded, 50,000 sq. ft. facility represents a ₹60 crore investment.
Key equipment includes a bunker structure, a Medical Linear Accelerator (LINAC-truebeam-dual energy), and Brachytherapy for internal radiation. The LINAC was acquired via the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation. The Tiruppur Rotary Public Welfare Trust mobilized ₹5 crore as its one-third share for this public-private partnership.
District Collector Manish Narnaware recently inspected the facility. Official sources indicate the Minister for Information and Publicity, M.P. Saminathan, will inaugurate the centre on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Future phases of expansion, costing ₹40 crore, are planned to include PET-CT scans and additional vital laboratory equipment.
