- Focus on providing warmth, dignity, and connection.
- Direct distribution of clothing and meals planned.

As winter approaches Timmins, the Mushkegowuk Council's health department is launching a crucial clothing drive to support individuals experiencing homelessness. From November 2nd to 4th, donations of clean winter clothing, including coats, sweaters, hats, mitts, blankets, and sleeping bags, will be accepted at 11 Elm Street North. The initiative, spearheaded by Shayanne Beach, a patient advocate, aims to provide not only essential warmth but also to foster connections and reduce the stigma faced by vulnerable community members.
Organizers are particularly seeking men's clothing, especially larger sizes. Mushkegowuk Health staff, in partnership with Mushkegowuk Firekeepers, plan to distribute the collected items directly to those in need in mid-November. This distribution will include warm meals like chili and Bannock, along with personal-care kits. Beach emphasized that such acts of kindness can significantly impact an individual's day, aiming to offer comfort and support where other services may be inaccessible due to identification requirements.
