Thrissur district has reached a significant healthcare achievement, securing national quality certifications for all its hospitals equipped with Special Newborn Care Units (SNCUs). This means every facility in the district with an SNCU now holds the MusQan certification, marking 100% coverage for this specialized care.
The General Hospitals in Thrissur and Irinjalakuda have been awarded both LaQshya and MusQan certifications, while the Government Medical College Hospital in Thrissur has received MusQan certification. Additionally, the Pariyaram Family Health Centre earned the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) accreditation.
Irinjalakuda General Hospital was particularly distinguished, achieving a platinum badge under the LaQshya and MusQan programmes with an impressive score of 97.73%. The Government Medical College Hospital scored 89.57% in its MusQan assessment, and Pariyaram Family Health Centre attained 96.48% for NQAS accreditation.
The LaQshya programme focuses on enhancing the quality of labour rooms and maternity operation theatres, ensuring safe childbirth and postnatal care. MusQan specifically targets improving healthcare quality for newborns and children up to 12 years old in public facilities. These certifications are granted for three years, after which institutions will be reassessed.
