Telangana is poised to introduce a comprehensive statewide Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination program targeting adolescent girls. The state has secured 4.6 lakh doses of the quadrivalent Gardasil 4 vaccine, which will be administered free of charge to girls aged 14 and 15. This free public initiative offers protection against four major cancer-causing strains of the HPV virus. The program is a critical response to a concerning rise in cervical cancer cases and fatalities observed in Telangana between 2021 and 2025.
Auxiliary Nurse Midwives across the state have undergone specialized training to ensure the efficient and safe administration of the vaccine. This effort underscores the state's commitment to public health and cervical cancer prevention through early immunization.
