Telangana has achieved national acclaim for its outstanding maternal and child healthcare performance. In recognition, the Central government has sanctioned an incentive of ₹200 crore to further enhance these vital services in state-run hospitals.
The allocated funds are designated for strengthening maternal and child healthcare infrastructure. Plans include expanding newborn care units, modernizing operation theatres and labor rooms to meet stringent national quality standards, and establishing specialized units like Midwifery-Led Care Units and Kangaroo Mother Care wards.
Advanced maternal and foetal monitoring systems will be installed in high-delivery-volume hospitals. Furthermore, government health facilities statewide will be upgraded to align with Indian Public Health Standards, with an emphasis on achieving National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification.
