New Health Centers Boost Tamil Nadu Healthcare

A new Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Kattur, constructed for ₹1.8 crore, was inaugurated via video-conferencing by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday. The same day saw the inauguration of new buildings and enhancements at government hospitals located in Thanjavur and Kulithalai.
The Kattur UPHC offers comprehensive services including inpatient and outpatient wards, a laboratory, and a pharmacy. It also features specialized sections for yoga, naturopathy, and Siddha, with a goal to achieve National Quality Assurance Standards certification soon. The facility is staffed by a dedicated medical team and funded by the National Urban Health Mission.
In Thanjavur, additions worth ₹12 crore were made to the Government Raja Mirasudar Hospital, including a new 100-bed Women and Children's Wellness centre. Meanwhile, a significant ₹40 crore investment resulted in a new 300-bed hospital building at the Government Headquarters Hospital in Kulithalai. This facility serves a large number of outpatients and inpatients daily.
