20 Apr
Summary
- A trainee nurse founded a support group for women with gynaecological conditions.
- The group, H.E.R Circle, aids women diagnosed with endometriosis, PCOS, and fibroids.
- The initiative aims to combat loneliness and reduce stigma surrounding these conditions.

Evie Soloman, a trainee paediatric nurse from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, has established H.E.R Circle, a peer support group for women navigating gynaecological health conditions. Soloman, who received an endometriosis diagnosis at age 18, was motivated to create the non-profit initiative after her own isolating early adult experiences.
The group offers support for conditions including endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), adenomyosis, and fibroids. Soloman highlighted the persistent stigma and insufficient conversation surrounding these issues, noting that her own journey to diagnosis in 2021 was frustrating and led her to seek private healthcare.
H.E.R Circle has received an unexpectedly large number of responses across a wide age range, demonstrating a significant need for community and shared experience. Soloman emphasized the importance of such systems in driving change and believes that without them, progress will be slow.
Joined Up Care Derbyshire has responded by launching The Inclusivity Checklist, Action Plan, and Resource Pack to enhance GP support for women's health. Concurrently, Samantha Niblett, MP for South Derbyshire, has offered full support to Soloman, aligning with the government's renewed Women's Health Strategy, which includes training for doctors on endometriosis and reducing gynaecology waiting times.
