A significant salmonella outbreak has been linked to the Super Greens diet supplement powder, prompting a recall of Superfoods Inc.'s Live it Up brand. At least 45 individuals in nearly two dozen states have fallen ill from consuming the contaminated product. The recall includes original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028.
Illnesses were reported between August 22 and December 30, 2025, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirming the widespread impact. Twelve people have been hospitalized, though thankfully, no deaths have been reported. The affected products were distributed nationwide, with cases documented in 21 specific states.
An ongoing investigation by the FDA suggests that further products may be contaminated. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning, including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, typically appear within hours or days. While most recover, the infection poses a higher risk to young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
