Summary
- Suffolk authorities confiscated 2,129 banned disposable vapes
- Vapes found in a Newmarket warehouse, acting on a tip from other agencies
- Officials trying to identify the owner of the illegal vaping devices

In a recent enforcement action, authorities in Suffolk have confiscated a significant stash of banned disposable vapes. According to reports, officers from the council's enforcement division seized 2,129 of these illegal vaping devices from a warehouse in Newmarket.
The operation was launched after the authorities received a tip from other agencies about the presence of the prohibited products at the location. Upon investigation, the officials were able to uncover the large cache of banned disposable vapes.
"Disposable vapes have been banned since June this year, so they can't be sold," explained Sasha Watson, a community engagement officer with Suffolk Trading Standards. The authorities are now working to identify the owner of the confiscated devices, as the likelihood of them being stored for a legitimate return is considered slim.
The crackdown on these harmful products is part of a broader effort to address the growing concerns around the vaping industry and its impact on public health, particularly among young people. Disposable vapes, which often contain addictive nicotine and dangerous substances, have been linked to higher rates of cigarette smoking later in life.
The authorities are urging residents to report any shops or businesses that are found to be selling these banned vaping devices. By working together, the community can help prevent these harmful products from reaching young people and further exacerbating the public health challenges posed by the vaping epidemic.
