A 20-year-old engineering student, critically injured from stab wounds on September 23, was discharged from Manipal Hospital Broadway on Tuesday, October 7, 2026. He was initially treated at a private hospital after an alleged altercation with a friend near a New Town mall.
Upon arrival, the student was in profound shock with extensive injuries, including deep wounds to the face, neck, chest, and back, along with internal bleeding and damage to vital organs. A multidisciplinary team of specialists performed emergency surgery to control bleeding, repair blood vessels, the diaphragm, and the trachea.
Following surgery, the patient's condition gradually stabilized. Postoperative complications, including respiratory issues, were managed closely. He was successfully weaned off mechanical ventilation and began oral feeding, though speech and swallowing difficulties necessitated ongoing therapy.
