A University of Pennsylvania student is making a significant impact by donating books to children undergoing cancer treatment. Emily Bhatnagar, now 22, established her nonprofit, For Love & Buttercup, when she was 17, motivated by her father's Stage IV thyroid cancer diagnosis.
To date, she has distributed around 30,000 books while managing her studies and caregiving responsibilities. This week, Bhatnagar visited St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in North Philadelphia, donating 500 books to Michael's Corner, a center supporting young patients.
Volunteers and staff highlighted the importance of these books, noting they serve not only as an outlet but also promote literacy. For children unable to attend school due to infection risks during treatment, these books are crucial for maintaining their education.
