State Mandates Adolescent Pregnancy Audits
7 Apr
Summary
- All adolescent pregnancies aged 10-18 will undergo mandatory audits.
- Audits will assess marriage age, education, and contraception access.
- Confidentiality and legal compliance are strictly enforced.

The State government has implemented a mandatory audit for all adolescent pregnancies involving girls between 10 and 18 years old. This directive aims to tackle the persistent public health and social challenges posed by early pregnancies. Taluk Health Officers will oversee these audits across government and private health facilities.
The audits will systematically review factors influencing adolescent pregnancies, including age at marriage, educational status, awareness of reproductive health, and access to contraception. The RCH platform will be used for mandatory reporting to improve oversight.
Measures following the audit will include enhanced counselling, access to contraceptive services, and identification of vulnerable adolescents. The government emphasizes strict confidentiality and adherence to child protection laws, ensuring no additional financial burden on the state, as the initiative operates within existing NHM and RKSK frameworks.
