Summary
- All medicine categories, including life-saving drugs, are now available.
- District stores' medicines are being moved to health centers.
- Factor IX for hemophilia patients will be supplied within two days.

The supply of all medicine categories, including life-saving drugs, medications for non-communicable diseases, and antibiotics, has been successfully streamlined in the state's government hospitals. This announcement was made by Health Minister K. Muraleedharan following a high-level meeting to assess the drug availability situation across all districts.
Efforts are underway to ensure the complete availability of essential medicines. The entire stock of drugs procured through the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL) is being transferred from district storage to local health centers. For specific medications related to cancer, heart conditions, and mental health disorders, healthcare institution medical officers will facilitate local purchases until their supply chain is fully optimized.
Furthermore, the Minister provided specific directives to guarantee the availability of Factor IX for individuals with hemophilia. KMSCL has committed to delivering this vital medication to areas experiencing shortages within a two-day timeframe. District-level drug monitoring committees are tasked with maintaining accurate stock records and proactive measures to prevent future shortages. The Minister also emphasized coordinated efforts with other departments to prevent communicable diseases and explore extending 24-hour specialist services to more healthcare facilities.
